@MuseZack Urasawa's also a fan of Osamu Tezuka, and I feel it shows in Monster. For ex., Dr. Tenma shares his name with the scientist who built Astro Boy, but rejected him for the things that made him less human. And I think the outlaw doctor aspect also has a bit of Black Jack in it.
