with jade gone, so too is everything jack loved and he's left with nothing but rage toward the universe he was born to hate

his lava tornadoes are COOL AS FUCK, as is seeing him rendered in this gorgeous style from the 5x showdown page

so first, let me set the stage for what's about to happen

-john is about to prepare the scratch
-jack has just watched jade die
-dave and rose are gonna blow up the green sun
-the trolls are waiting for the signal that will help them escape the end of the universe

i guess to sum up, i rly enjoy this story beat as its own thing, i think it makes sense and is good and i think some of the jokes are funny

but gamzee's face turn being a farce and the black hole left by nepeta's absence pretty much completely ruin what works about this scene

i get that the vague idea is that the signless and his disciples have reincarnated as karkat and the friends who have stuck by his side during all this, but if that's the case THERE IS AN EXTREMELY EGREGIOUS MISSING PERSON IN THIS SCENE

buuuuut there are two big elephants in the room i gotta address; nepeta and vriska are both dead

gamzee literally gets to get away with murder, but vriska doesn't (and i literally JUST went off on how i think vriska's fate was good actually)
