"took a little stroll to the church"

In 1824 Patterdale had a church built in the 16th c. on the remains of the previous wooden structure from the 14th c. Today's St Patrick's church was built and consecrated in 1853 so it isn't the one Anne saw.

FUN FACT:
John Marshall (1765-1845) married in 1795, Jane Pollard (1770-1847) from Halifax. They lived in Leeds and then Hallsteads. Jane was a lifelong friend of Dorothy Wordsworth's, but I haven't seen any evidence Anne Lister knew or mentioned these women in her journals.

"beautiful drive the lake (Ullswater) winds beautifully"

Ullswater, maybe from OldNorse for Ulf's Water, is after Windermere England's 2nd largest lake, 7 1/2 miles long, less than a mile wide.
It is the 3rd deepest English lake at 250feet~76m.
Steamers on the lake since 1877!

"Lord Lonsdale begun the castle 15 years ago – and is gradually finishing it – little seems wanting to complete"

William Lowther (1757–1844), 1st Earl of Lonsdale, MP, patron of arts, art collector.
Inherited the estate and his titles in 1802.
Rebuilt Lowther castle 1806-1818.

The path passes by Styhead Tarn, originally called Hederlangtern, Old Norse: tarn at the top of the path, 29ft ~ 8.5m deep.
Martineau: "the little clear rippling lake where the boars used to come to drink."
Tarn, ON "tjorn", small proglacial mountain lake.

Anne doesn't comment.

“It is so difficult, if not impossible, to gain admittance to the mine, we never tried the thing but walked forwards”

In the future mines & coal pits became her passion, but here Anne didn't have time to try to see the black lead mine in Borrowdale.
This makes me properly sad.😭
