So yeah, I decided I'd write a bit about my thoughts & experience with Vol. 3 of Eighty-Six, and what I got out of it regarding its characters, especially Shin. This volume I think wrapped up the first phase in 86's narrative.

Consider this as sort of a review/analysis?

Each significant character has a visual motif that ties other characters to them (ie. Echidna/butterflies, Capella/braids, Daphne/violet circles...). This isn't something the anime introduced. This piece was written back in 2014, with Echidna as the speaker. So why butterflies?

@ColdCriti Visual identity doesn’t end at just shading, that’s like saying AoT S1 doesn’t have a distinct visual identity because MHA and other anime also had thick linework. I’m thinking about directing, designs, palette choices, the movie-like battle scenes, etc.
