While this is going out there, I figure I should make one addendum. They fade the mesh out at the edges with vertex colors and squeeze the texture coordinates a bit so that the cutoff is less sharp. So the curly mesh actually looks more like this:

Since @pupperuki got upset I didn't include the other two cats, here they are, but these aren't good enough to get top billing. Despite the 3D model, all that was included in the game was this render of them.
My guess is that the unused Korean Super Paper Mario map files seem to be prototypes for a new adventure on the same IP? The map files contain some REALLY cute cat characters. We're still looking to see if we can spawn them or if they have any scripting.
