The first wuxia-type of novel that I have ever read, thus I found the character tropes interesting. The novel reads like a stage-play (note: haven't seen the dònghuà, this is my first impression).

Praise for the Translator - all of the original pop culture references and idioms are in tact, and explained in a glossary at the end of the book. I appreciate that amount of dedication for the series, since many Japanese phrases (etc.) cannot cleanly be altered to English words.

Mr. Watari is a master at making situations that would normally feel mundane flow in great prose. With Hikki's comedically cynical samsara, his "Golden Experience Requiem" of sorts, and a slew of referential humor guiding us viewers.

Gag comic about a teasing maid that gets flustered by her master's innocence. The art is pretty and yet the story doesn't make an impact like "Sunohara-sō no Kanrinin-san" or "Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san" did.

Superb character-growth moments for Kyō and Yuki. Yuki's character is explored by his similarities to Kisa and more interactions with Ayame╱unseiso bro, while Kyō is forced to face his inner demons.
