In the tales of the Fianna, Grainne laces the mead with a sleeping draught at her own wedding feast after being enchanted into an overwhelming love for Diarmuid, which means they both must flee into the night. #MythologyMonday
Art self for ‘Finn and the Fianna’ by Daniel Allison
Having a wobbly day… The small person at the heart of me just wants to hide under something and cover myself in fluff until it passes but I have stuff I must do.
Doing all the stuff while crying is still doing all the stuff.
Several hours of feathers, very tired eyes… more tomorrow, still several hours to go. I am reminded of what a famous illustrator once said at a seminar I attended about drawing trees ‘ why oh why, I would ask myself, did I put this whole story in a forest??’ 😂 #Illustrator
Another watery Selkie tale for #FairyTaleTuesday
This time of a Selkie who saves a drowning Spanish sailor, falls in love with him and begs him to stay under the sea with her, only to lose him again to his greed for gold…
Illustration for Colin Urwins book of Irish tales

My recent cover art for Secret Songs by @JaneVsw
Some see differently, some hear differently,
Some live between two worlds… #selkies
I know that the seven small stars on the tarot card the star don’t represent them.
But when I drew this I saw the Pleiades, telling us when to sow and reap, when winter is nigh and when the veil between worlds is thin
Seven bright sisters in our night sky

After yesterday’s intimate and tender drawing this one feels very different. Imagine feeling driven to spend your whole life searching for a lost love, or maybe the idea of love is what drives him on.
He never finds her.
He finds other things though...
