They're nocturnal foragers and rest during the day. As they age, they lose their stripes and gain spots. Threats include being captured and overfished by inshore fisheries. #EndangeredMermay #EndangeredSpeciesDay and #colour_collective

#Mermay Day 5: Taiwanese Humpback Dolphin (Critically Endangered)

In July 2017, IUCN reports there are about 50 left. The greatest threat is the incidental catches of them in fishing gear. The pinkish hue comes from their blood vessels circulating at the skin. #EndangeredMermay

The demersal, bottom-dwelling, nocturnal shark can grow up to 8 feet long. They camouflage to catch their prey. They're highly susceptible to bycatch in demersal trawls, bottom-set longlines, gill nets & dredges
