The Doom 3-issue mini that comes after FF v3 #25, detailing what happens to Doom on Counter-Earth while Reed is stuck in his armor on normal Earth is good though.

The Heroes Reborn one-shots that came out before FF v3 #25 kind of detail what Doom did to build the army he comes back to Earth with, but only a little bit. Other than Lancer's non-consensual origin here, they're not very in depth.

The 2nd Fantastic Five series came out, like, 8 years after the first and you have to have read some Spider-Girl stories to understand where the characters are at now, but it's still very good (especially if you loved Defalco's FF run)
