I hope you have a Merry Christmas everyone, and a Happy New Year. And don’t let anyone catch you dressed as a clown trying to steal sausages, or a masked harlequin will come for you.
🎄✨☃️
This first card depicts Clara Weston, she pioneered the creation of snow golems—or as we know them today, snowmen. She tragically lost her life to one of her own creations. It took a while before we figured out how create snowmen that didn’t instantly become malevolent monsters
The roots of paganism in Christmas can be seen in forgotten tradition of bring food to life. The screams of these cursed meat and beet-men pierced the air until people began to wise up, and started eating their faces first.
Ahhh nothing says “tis the season” quite like a dead songbird.
(a dead wren or robin was considered good luck, so these cards were essentially saying good fortune in the new year. Obviously nothing says good fortune like the death of a songbird that brings joy with its music.)
Happy Christmas everyone!!! Please enjoy some unhinged Victorian era Christmas cards.
