Happy 71st birthday to Katsumi Itabashi, mechanical designer for Leiji Mastumoto. Born on January 28th, 1951, he took his experience at his family's electronics company and applied them to the Leijiverse, including Captain Harlock, Yamato, and more.

Artwork from "Space Battleship Yamato: Star Blazers 2199," the remake of the revolutionary 1974 anime directed, in part, by Leiji Matsumoto.

Promotional artwork for Leiji Matsumoto's "Queen Millennia" anime series. In her animated adaptations, she's the Leijiverse's magical girl. This spy outfit is never used in the movie. In the manga series, she has many more espionage antics.

Character models from "Ozma," a modern original anime adaptation of Leiji Matsumoto's early manga work, "Lightning Ozma." For those who were inspired to look for more desert punk in the wake of the latest "Dune" movie, this might fit the bill!

This is the last thing you see when you rightly tick off Leiji Matsumoto's Emeraldas.

A little edit I made of Tochiro walking away from his own grave to fulfill his destiny as the soul of the Arcadia he gave to Captain Harlock. This is, in my opinion, the most iconic moment in the Leijiverse.

I used this as artwork for .
