this family contains some really gorgeous technological ornamentation. i'd love to see these as backgrounds or cities or something...
it's working a little better now! i really like this gestural, concentric clearing rule, and the finer clumps of foliage are really helping with the sense of scale.
i was working on waterways, and this came out of nowhere. this feels like masses of vegetation with meandering waterways, or lakes filled with chemotrophs

well, my water rule is broken, but the basic painting tools are working! i feel like this is a pretty compelling way to quickly make a map.
oh! oh there we go... i need to do some large scale stuff which dictates which rules go next to which.

there are three states. neighbors are counted. you count # of 0, # of 1, and then use those as lookups.
(the neighborhood is diagonal + orthogonal, and skips self, for a total of 0-8 of any single type)
