Thank you to everyone who has been and visited so far and shared your thoughts and photos with me on social media.

‘Moonlight, Hauxley Carrs’
Acrylic on canvas
30x20cm

First finished painting done in my new studio. Of the full moon the week before last, seen from just outside Low Hauxley on the Dunes. Magical strong moonlight over the sea, catching the tops of the breakers.

‘All Of The Nights Hues’, Acrylic on canvas, A1 33"x23".

Initially a sunrise, painted over with black, I became dissatisfied with the nocturne I had painted. Rubbing out the woolly clouds with blues I suddenly began to see a mottled sky emerge.

Moonlight is a fickle thing.

‘North Pier Dusk’, Acrylic on stretched canvas, 33"x23"

I painted this after being caught by the deep hues of the harbour waters in the late evening. It shows that I was interested in Rothko at the time ! A painter in whoms work I find it impossible not to see some horizons.

‘Looking West’, Acrylic on stretched canvas, 33"x23" inches.

The view looking across a field near Morwick with the outline of the Cheviots cast a subtle blue-green, backlit by the sunset. The first 'big picture', I did for my exhibition, it opened up a new way of working for me.

‘Amble Harbour, First Thing’, Acrylic on MDF, 20"x16".

A study I made thinking about the morning light on the harbour here in Amble. I deliberately, slightly perversely, wanted to pare the scene down and focus on the light itself and the harsh structure of the quayside wall.

‘Pond Nocturne No.1’ & ‘Pond Nocturne No.2’. Watercolour on 15x11 watercolour paper (Bockingford 200lb NOT & Saunders Waterford 200lb Hot press)

Finally feeling as though I am getting watercolours to work for me again. The result of lots of lifting and layering.
