Jane Wilson is a current favourite of mine, sublime skies. But remarkably little information about her relative to the strength of her work. https://t.co/WBVRQ1F76x

‘March Sea’, Acrylic on Muslin laid on MDF panel, 24”x30”/2ftx2.5ft. Began outdoors at the rocks just past the Paddlers Park, Amble, and finished off in the studio. Not a painting of how the sea looked, but how it felt on a mild and muggy evening this week.

4 of the 20 pastel skies I drew last night. Slowly making progress with this medium, I am having to learn to use a very light touch with these pastels to bring out the best colours. This is counterintuitive for someone who is used to battering the hell out of painting panels...

‘Gone Soon’, Coloured Pencil on 14”x10” watercolour paper. I made a painting of these trees at Gloster Hill, Amble the other day. It still needs some work, so I made this drawing as a way of thinking over the idea. Incidentally it turned out better than the painting ever was.

‘Terracotta Skies’ A series of small sketches. When walking at night I’m always caught by the hues of the light pollution, I’ve come to call it the ‘Ashington Glow’ as the light comes from the more developed parts of south Northumberland. Enjoying these experiments in minimalism.

A pastel drawing from the same spot as the painting I just posted prior to this. I haven’t really done much pastel since the winter, a bit rusty...

‘Guilden Burn Study’ another study of the Guilden Burn using acrylic on cardboard primed with polyfiller to give a heavy textured surface. In this piece I was trying to capture the burn from a different angle.

Today’s plein air acrylic painting of the Guilden Burn on the outskirts of Amble. This spot is actually at-if not below-sea level. Aimed to convey the grey and drab feel of the weather in this piece alongside the muddy and marshy pasture land.
