I miss traveling, so I wanted to paint something inspired by an old vacation photograph from a few years ago, and giving it a fantasy twist. I started with a rough composition sketch based on my reference, then added colors and rendering:

With Chinese New Year upcoming, I wanted to paint something celebrating tigers. Maybe a place of worship, or a natural tiger-shaped rock formation? I was considering either a warm, golden scene, or a lush, vibrant green setting.

These turned out a little mushy for my taste, BUT I made 4 of them! What's your favourite mood?

With these mushrooms I tried to go really stylized, but somewhere on the way got lost in details again! Ooops. I really admire people who are good at pushing shapes and finding the underlying gesture in an object. It's so much harder than it looks!
