Charles II has many mistresses, including Nell Gwynn, and Lucy Walter. Her son, James, is made Duke of Monmouth. He provides titles to most of his children, all of which are illegitimate. He endears himself to his subjects, and is known as "The Merry Monarch"

A "lesser known" Stewart: Sir Andrew Stewart, 1st Lord Avondale C1482. A grandson of Murdoch Stewart, Duke of Albany, he survives the executions of most of his family by King James I. He is Lord Chancellor of Scotland under James II and James III.
