(7/13) Catra knew Adora still cared about her, even before she admitted to missing her. Despite all the fighting Adora could never really hit Catra, at least when she was She-Ra and could easily do lethal damage. Adora though Catra still cared too, until she left her to fall.

(6/13) Catra scratched She-Ra's face in Salineas. When they met again at Princess Prom there were no scars. This must have made Catra realize that no matter how she wounds She-Ra, magic would prevent permanent damage to Adora - giving her free rein to hurt She-Ra as she pleases.

(4/13) Catra knows how to get under Adora's skin ("how to push her buttons"). Catra can say just the right words to verbally hit Adora where it hurts the most. Combined with the sadistic role model she had in SW, Catra can deliver painful punches without lifting a claw.

(3/13) At the Sea Gate, Adora was too concentrated on fixing the gate to give Catra a proper reply when she tried to have a discussion. That provoked Catra to physically attack her the first time - punching, scratching etc. - to actually hurt her unlike ever before.

(2/13) After Adora left, Catra showed only anger, but I wonder if her aching heart & bruised ego did not also get a mighty bittersweet boost of dark satisfaction whenever Adora apologized or tried to make her reconsider - showing she still cared - and Catra got to turn her down.

(1/13) More random thoughts after my 10-part tweet of Nov 24 about C & A losing each other: Catra felt personally betrayed and hurt by Adora's defection, so from then on she took every opportunity to hurt Adora back...
