And because it's not just one of my faves, but one of Rockwell Kent's most popular prints, here's Flame, 1928. #RockwellKent
@rokorumora I just took this pic in DC today, so I'm afraid you won't be seeing it in Chicago.
The highlight of visiting @taftmuseum is getting to experience these ca. 1850-52 landscape murals in the foyer by African American artist Robert S. Duncanson, who was only in his late 20s when commissioned to paint these! #ITweetMuseums #TaftMuseum
The permanent collection of @taftmuseum is diverse, and at times rather surprising. The #Limoges enamels captivated me, including this striking detail of Marcus Curtius from the early 1600s. #ITweetMuseums #TaftMuseum
I was just reading about #MargueriteZorach the other day and wondered why I wasn't more familiar with her work. @PtldMuseumofArt had at least 6 of her canvases on exhibit, including this exemplary, and very Maine, Diana of the Sea, 1940. #ITweetMuseums
The murals were uncovered, then covered anew, decades later. Finally, in 2016, they were fully restored and now are seen not only as stunning examples of Prikker's work, but also as a reminder of this museum's layered past. #ITweetMuseums #KaiserWilhelmMuseum
One of the things I enjoyed the most at @InselHombroich was the collection of "walk-in sculptures" by #ErwinHeerich. Some of them were galleries full of art (no photos allowed), others were seemingly empty, but activated by views of nature. #ITweetMuseums #MuseumInselHombroich
On my recent visit to @CincyCAC, I was drawn in to experience this ephemeral wall drawing wedged into a double-volume end gallery: @PamelaPhatsimo Sunstrum, All my seven faces, 2019. #CincyCAC #ITweetMuseums
What a #MuseumBum! I love a good #Marisol sculptural group, and her 1961-62 The Bathers was a happy find @crystalbridges. I need to see a Marisol retrospective–her work is so rewarding to explore for the thoughtful, curious, and skillfully rendered details. #ITweetMuseums
