The issue ends in Coney Island, as Spider-Man and Silver Sable exit the wreckage of the Cyclone, only to face the full might of the Sinister Syndicate! On to the action-packed next issue!

Flash Thompson about to be put on trial for being the Hobgoblin, and his ex-girlfriend Sha Shan refuses to testify on his behalf. I get that he cheated on her, but that doesn’t mean he should be convicted of something he (presumably) didn’t do!

We are treated to a flashback of how Spider-Man teamed up with the Silver Sable, and Spidey mentions that his old red-and-blue costume is gone for good. Boy, I’m missing out on a lot by not reading Web of Spider-Man!

The story starts in media res, with Spider-Man and Silver Sable being attacked by the Beetle, the Rhino, Boomerang, Speed Demon, and Hydro-Man! “What is this…Old Villains’ Week?!” Yeah Spidey, didn’t you see the cover!?

In the end, the X-Factor members save Bulk and Glow Worm…but those mutants are still radioactive, so they’re too dangerous for even X-Factor to help. It’s kind of a downer ending, and I feel like X-Factor is going to need an overhaul soon!

We also meet Bulk and Glow Worm, two mutants who are actually radioactive and dangerous to anyone around them. They’re angry about the anti-mutant sentiment drummed up by X-Factor, so they want to do something about it!

One of the new evil mutants is Stinger, who is portrayed as a valley girl. I’m not sure about her speech patterns though, and it would help if the writers wouldn’t misspell “grody” as “groadie”. Clearly the Oxford English Dictionary hadn’t been updated yet!

[X-Factor Jun. 1986] The Alliance of Evil is back, and they’re after a mutant that X-Factor is trying to protect! [#cmro M6464]

Just to amplify the bad press from Captain America using a gun, Super-Patriot stages an “attack” by people pretending to support Captain America, complete with machine guns and bandoliers and spouting off about the Second Amendment!

Captain America disguises himself as one of Flag-Smashers agents. “It’s just a question of balance--and remembering how to work the tongue-controls inside the helmet!” Tongue controls!? Really?? That’s worse than the flying skis!
