Konami (a big company) made something that feels like a free mod for MGSV. That would be fine if this game was a fan mod. But it isn't.

Compared to the other spin-offs in this series, Survive is sorely lacking in it's own identity.

The continuity seems a bit strange. It starts by showing the player avatar in a coffin, being wheeled off for testing. This is after the events of GZ.

Then it cuts to a different scene of the avatar during the GZ event and them getting sucked into a wormhole.

Metal Gear Solid V

There is a bridge in the opening level, seen when Ocelot and Big Boss escape the Man on Fire.

two characters appearing from previous titles, Big Boss and Ocelot.

However, since the events from MG1/2 and MGS1/2 haven't happened at all in MGS3, you don't need to understand what happens in those games to get the story of this one.

These two titan sized Metal Gears are fierce in their own rights, and battled each other in MGS4. Through that MGS4 fight, REX is the winner since it is the playable Metal Gear.
However some people would argue that RAY was the stronger Metal Gear.
