A good strategy is to stay relatively close to REX so you can dodge homing missiles easier. Mind the other weapons.
You can use chaff grenades to escape it's gaze and stay out of its sight by hiding behind cover. After blowing up the Radome, Gray Fox will finish it off. Then...😭
