Just finished watching the original Cowboy Bebop series. Ended on a pretty darn emotional note. Highly recommend, even to my pals who aren't that into anime to begin with.

With how much Nintendo loved sucking off SMB3 in the 2010's, I'm surprised they never brought back the various kings you had to save from that game.

@SNick_WT I wish Sonic could just go for a cel-shaded but detailed anime style akin to X or the OVA. There’s a reason I think the old handheld games in particular nailed the environments.

@tyson_hesse Classic Mega Man in particular is meant to be colorful and heavily anime-inspired. Trying to make it look super realistic and gritty ultimately is just as misguided as trying to make Mario look like this IMO

How Nintendo should actually have treated the Paper Mario games in retrospect:

@x_khou It's also worth noting a lot of these spin-offs using 2D artwork still maintained the GCN-proportions akin to M&L Mario and typically tried giving him a "cooler" vibe.
