#MeetTheArtworks: Say hello to ‘The Death of Cato’ painted in 1779 by Belgian painter Mathieu Ignace van Brée (Belgian, 1773-1839). This classically-inspired scene was gifted to the @Philbrook by the Maurice DeVinna Charitable Trust, via John and Sharon Robinson, in 2016.

This haunting painting was recovered by the #MFAA and is now on view in the @AlbrightKnox collection 👏🏻

#MostWantedArtworks: The painting ‘Madonna and Child’ by Venetian Renaissance artist #PaoloVeronese was confiscated by the Nazi looting organisation (the ERR) from the Wacker-Bondy warehouse at 236 Blvd. Raspail, Paris, France, in 1940. Today, its whereabouts are still unknown.

#MeetTheArtworks: Say hello to ‘The Fiancé’ circa 1527 by #Dutch painter Lucas van Leyden (1494-1533). Today, this delicate work is on view at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Strasbourg. The image below shows it alongside artworks recovered near Berchtesgaden, #Germany, 1945.
