Anyway! Then I...painted this. I didn't take any progress pictures of the painting. It's oils on watercolor paper, something like 20x24.
And that's it.

I kept going, trying new heads. I think I sent the AD (Zack Stella) at least a few of these, and he chose the last one, so I made a tentative color study.

The prompt was: This is a movie poster shot of AJANI, his double-sided axe held at the ready. He might be roaring dramatically or simply looking heroic & noble. Behind him is a stained glass window depicting a beautiful field of grass. A stylized...SUN hangs in the window's sky

So I've been painting Magic: The Gathering cards again here and there, as a treat. I've learned I'm allowed to share this painting I did last year of a character named Ajani. Google if you want to see how a few dozen other artists have illustrated him.
