in the jp version we don't get to see jonouchi's internal "good guy" voice arguing with marik. it's basically him being totally silent as marik orders him, and he suddenly takes a different card and reasons it as "i dont need monsters to kill you..."

in jp btw they specifically mention the millenium rod implants memories. not sure if this will be relevant or is just phrasing
