For this #FossilFriday admire this Ursus deningeri skull from the Pleistocene of Belgium I scanned on Monday in the @prehisto_museum 🇧🇪🐻

To properly study the influence of the saberteeth on the functioning of the mandible we scanned 17 different taxa, both extant and extinct, sabertooths and non sabertooths and modeled 3 muscle groups: masseter, temporalis & pterygoideus. 🧵3/12

For this #FossilFriday here is a surface scan the the left hemimandible of Prosansanosmilus peregrinus🦁This specimen was scanned by @LabouryA during his visit in @SMNStuttgart, it was first described by Heizmann, Ginsburg & Bulot in 1980 (2nd pic) and was found in Germany 🇩🇪

For this #FossilFriday here is the skull of Panthera gombaszoegensis BR-II-81-146 from "La Belle-Roche" (#Belgium 🇧🇪) that I just scanned last Tuesday🦁This skull belongs to the @UniversiteLiege but is currently exposed in Le Grand Curtius Museum in #Liège. 🦴💀

For #FossilFriday I present you these incredible associated skull (PMU-M3836) & mandible (PMU-M3837) of Yoshi minor I had the chance to scan in @UU_University 🦁🇸🇪 This specimen of #sabertoothed #felid was found in late #Miocene deposits in #China and described by Zdansky in 1924
