Maria Bronte died #otd 1821. She didn't get to see her children grow up, but her youngest daughters Charlotte, Emily and Anne (just 1 at the time) changed the world of literature forever!
They had an Irish father and Cornish mother, but it was their home county which shaped them most of all. Charlotte, Emily and Anne could never have guessed that for many, me included, they would become the timeless queens of Yorkshire! #HappyYorkshireDay
#otd 1861 Patrick Bronte, the last surving Bronte, died aged 84. His son in law Arthur, Charlotte Bronte's widower, was by his side. Patrick outlived his wife and all 6 children; a keen poet and firm believer in education for all, his influence on the Bronte sisters was huge.
