Another of the interpretation panels you can see at Binham Priory. It was an honour to work on such a wonderful monument, with such a complex story to tell.
My reconstruction of the iron helmet remains found at #BurghCastle #Roman fort, worn by a cavalry soldier stationed at the fort about 1700 years ago. He was probably a member of the Stablesian Horse, an auxiliary unit recruited from a region of Yugoslavia. #RomanFortThursday
You can walk around #Norfolk ‘s oldest surviving 1800 year old house at #Caister-on-Sea #Roman fort. It was built with a #Norfolk winter in mind with underfloor and wall heating. This my reconstruction illustration for on-site panel #HypocaustGate #Archaeology
The #Iceni Queen #Boudica is depicted here in the 1898 stained glass window in #Colchester Town Hall. Her troops swept down from #Norfolk to raid Colchester in AD60, nothing #Roman was spared no building or person what ever age was left standing. #StainedGlassSunday
@pogomcl @Durotrigesdig Terrets are metal rings, often decorated in the #IronAge, that guide the leather rains from the metal bit in the ponies mouth, over the wooden yoke, then into the hands of the charioteer. A terret was fixed to the yoke either side of the ponies heads. My Boudica reco shows them
@TemplumData A reconstruction I did a few years back of an Iron Age chariot, the wicker side panel is a little similar to the one in the Rutland mosaic
#RomanFortThursday #Caister on Sea, #Roman fort, #Norfolk. This is my reconstruction of what the south gatehouse may have looked like.
