Megalosaurus seems to be your rather ordinarily typical theropod, but it was the first non-avian dinosaur ever to have its own genus name. It was named back in 1824, and was once believed to have been a giant lizard (which we now know it wasn’t)!

Confuciusornis was a rather common bird during its time; hundreds of specimens have been found! It also currently is the earliest bird known to have a beak.

The Steller’s sea cow once lived in the frigidly cold waters of the Bering Sea. It was buoyant, so it couldn’t submerge entirely! At the time of its discovery, it was already very rare; sadly, it was overhunted to extinction just 27 years after its discovery.

Cuvieronius was a strange, elephant-like animal related possibly to the mastodons, and probably lived in a variety of environments from chilly highlands, to warm jungles. It was well-known for its rather spiraled tusks unlike any other known proboscidean. Twisted!

The Jefferson’s ground sloth primarily dwelled amongst the woodlands during the Ice Age. Sid the Sloth from the Ice Age series may have been this species of ground sloth!

Some rather familiar animals have been revamped, and some new animals are waiting to be revealed, stay tuned!

Shunosaurus seemed like a typical sauropod dinosaur, but it sported a distinctive tail club, similar to an ankylosaur’s! It was probably used to fend off enemies.

A good ol’ When POTP first started, the animals were MUCH different, and the Deinocheirus was the first ever pixel (that I recall, I think). POTP: Deluxe was the major overhaul that changed everything!

Concavenator sports a unique feature on its back; a rather concave hump/sail structure! Though its purpose is unknown, it may have been used to show off to potential mates.

The Giant marabou stork once stalked the island of Flores, looking for smaller animals to eat. A small human relative, Homo floresiensis, AKA the “hobbit”, was probably on this bird’s menu. An unexpected journey into the stork’s mouth!
