Finally I’m going to repaint Grealish’s face. There’s a likeness there but the face is a bit lopsided and I think it’s a too dark. The paint is dry, new paints mixed so here I go.
A year ago I set myself the task of concentrating on cricket art for a whole year. That year has ended now. It's been interesting, hard work for sure & I hope you've enjoyed my journey as well.
It started with the infamous Garden Cricket & ended with Mr Burns.
What a tussle this painting has been. All day I’ve been going back and forth with the background, I’m mentally drained. But I’m there now. Time to let it dry and then it’ll be going up for auction.
Title suggestions welcome. #painting
Final tweaks today. I’ve made an artistic decision to paint out the arm tattoo. It looked a mess and clashed with the background. Just one of those things I change to get the best painting I can, an exact likeness is irrelevant to me.
Think I’ll leave the face there. I could keep pushing for a perfect likeness but I don’t want to lose my expressive brushstrokes and I like it as it is.
Drawing ‘The Angry Bowler’ today. I’ve drifted back onto charcoal paper. Expensive but I’m getting punchy dark values.
Gertie
Just came across her while flicking through some cards. Long sold but such fun to draw.
I have no idea why I drew a giraffe that day but she's a one off!
Two of my prints have sold today.
The collector wanted to start his cricket art collection with England's two captains.
Fine way to start and wonderful that finally women's cricket is getting on people's walls.
