Woah. You know I don't recall hearing from this Keita character after they get injured like this. Even at the very end of the episode. We don't even see them in the hospital. The shot of them being crushed is the last we see em in episode 3.

Evangelion's original on air run coincided with the finale of Dragon Ball Z and the very start (first 8 episodes) of Dragon Ball GT.

They all aired on Wednesday evenings. NGE at 18:30 pm on TV Tokyo and DBZ, DBGT at 19:00 pm on Fuji TV.

Gundam ZZ was the last Tomino TV-crew for the 1980s.

Its final episode to air was at 17:30 pm on the 31st January 1987 on Nagoya TV. That episode had a rating of 8.2%

The show to replace it in the same time slot , fittingly so, was "Metal Armor Dragonar."

So is the whole Giant Robot beam absorbing the protagonist into the Robot itself, like Raideen (1975) , originating from Astroganger (1972?) Or does it have an earlier origin?

Episode 18's first airing was on 31st January 1996 at 18:30 pm on TV Tokyo. Having a TV rating of 9.6%

At 19:00 pm on the same day on Fuji TV the final episode of Dragon Ball Z aired. Its TV rating was 21.3%

When Gundam 0079's original run on Nagoya TV came to an end its block was taken over by "Invincible Robo Trider G7."

Gundam 0079 aired on Saturday's at 17:30 pm back in 1979 -1980.

Parallel to 0079 was "Manga Hajime Monogatari" on TBS TV. It was aimed at a very young audience.

So back in 1995 Evangelion aired on Wednesdays at 18:30 pm on TV TOKYO.

The show that Evangelion was replacing for this 18:30 pm slot was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

[Not that 1996 OVA. The JPN dub of the OG 1987 cartoon. This was the end of it's original JPN run.]
