Here’s a close-up of the surface for the oil paint nerds. Still a bit ridged in places but I will go in and smooth it as it dries. Beauty of the medium and it’s slow drying time. I always see it as a positive. A way of adding subtly and expression. #ArtistOnTwitter
Progress on large commission. I love the way with oil paint you can soften detail the day after, because the paint takes a while to hard dry. Especially on wood. Rubbing and smoothing. Pushing back and bringing to the fore, one small area can be subject to many interventions.

Here’s a closeup of the more or less completed section. One of the most complex patterns I’ve ever painted. With added challenge of mosaic tiles on the dark blue line. But it will be worth it in the end.
We are open this morning to visitors. Check the @LambethOpen website for details. Paintings, prints and paperpools. Here is The Weekenders - closeup and framed. Also featuring new oil The Shallow End - #brockwelllido swimmers should recognise it!
Both on their first outing.
Progress on large commission. Detail of huge interlacing light pattern currently under construction. #oilonwood #oilpainting #swimmingart #artistatwork #inthestudio
Progress on this male figure swimming. The dark diagonal going right to left is the shadow from the lane divider. The white pencil grid here is vital as this line has to be in the right place.

My little loft studio is insanely hot today but worth it as the oil paint was going on like BUTTER! 💋 Cooling off downstairs now…

Still work to be done on the upper stripes, shoulders and head, but I’m nearly there. #oilonlinen #artistatwork #artforsale
