Since folks are talking about Legacy Characters again, let me tell you that Plastic Man was once a legacy character, except he was supposed to be the original and was made one because of fan backlash, and he was still so disliked when he came back he was given a brand new mantle

But overall? Plastic Man’s costume has been, and probably always, virtually the exact same as Jack Cole drew it in the 40’s.

And I love that.

The most variation you’ll find is his goggles, which is mainly just up to what the artist wants. Sometimes they’re fully strapped around his head, sometimes they’re more like sunglasses

I think the only time anything of the sort actually stuck was Kyle Baker giving Plastic Man shorter sleeves, which has been used by, like, most Plastic Man designs since, in comics or animation

(And even then it’s not always!)

Times that the costume has been changed, through general desire to redesign, (and possibly through censorship in some cases) the costume always goes back to its classic look

I think it’s pretty awesome how Plastic Man’s costume started out one way, was changed 5 issues in, and it’s been that way EVER SINCE. There haven’t been any major changes to it, Plastic Man still looks nearly the exact same as he did in 1941.
