After thirty hours, I have finally finished 'Hollow Knight' (which is currently free on PS+). It is an absolutely beautiful, creative, deep, extensive, and fun game. It is exactly what a Metroidvania ought to be.
For me, it's @LyukaArt. The guy has so many gorgeous and colourful designs with zany and creative ideas, and with such a unique and sharp art style that's all his own. Looking at everything he posts is like watching 'Gun x Sword' or checking out the cast of a fighting game.
Name a game that deserved a sequel but never got one and it is a damn shame.
I'll start: 'Liberation Maiden'.
Today, I finished 'Spark the Electric Jester' by @LakeFeperd. Well, I finished Spark's story. Anyway, it was shockingly good as a 'Sonic' x 'Kirby' hybrid; the power swapping of the latter really made for a fantastic experience with the speed and action of the former.
Today, I finished 'Lair of the Clockwork God', a game where you swap between an Adventure game and a Platformer at the touch of a button. I feel like it leans a bit too hard on the former and not enough of the latter but it is quite creative and funny. Give it a go.
Let's see... My ideal action JRPG would have the:
— gameplay of 'Kingdom Hearts'
— environments of 'Xenoblade Chronicles'
— side missions of 'Yakuza'
— tone of 'Skies of Arcadia'
However, each would need significant changes in their own ways.
I just realised I have more followers than some artists.
Please give @Kaleidic_Art and @Limbonix follows; they deserve them far more than I do because their art is great.
Today, after nearly ten hours, I finished 'Hedon'. Which is how much the game costs at its base, and it's on special right now for less than that. And it has a free demo too, so give that a try.
The game is shockingly substantial, with fierce fights and great levels. And yet...
So 'Ni no Kuni II' is on special on the PlayStation Store for 83% off, so that's $17 well spent on a digital download of 23 gigabytes.
