It's a shame DreamWave ended so wretchedly as it did for the employees who got stiffed.
Nothing against Antarctic Press or other small presses presenting a manga influence back then, but DW books were like an anime put to page.
New Titans, 1990-1993
Titans Hunt. Team Titans. Baby Wildebeest. Total Chaos. Cyborg leaves. Arsenal. Evil Raven. Mullets.
A lot going on here. Some of it is better than you'd think and the other stuff is exactly as you'd think.
Chaos! Comics were like Troma films where they reveled in over-the-top gore and TITillation. It may not be your cup of tea but they were hardly boring. https://t.co/iKjVBhdd39
@john_seeko @_gabagool @DokTwoPointOh At a time when Joe Madureira & J Scott Campbell weren't producing a steady output of work, Benes rose in ranks to become one of my favorite flashy artists.
Alan Moore used Top Ten to satiracally skewer TV police procedural dramas AND superhero comics.
In SMAX, Moore gives the fantasy genre a little jab too.
"... as long as we don't get stuck in any quests..." 😄
Here's to all my homies who also grew of age during the Generation Thong era of the 90s.
What a great time to have been alive.
@ComicPerch I recall how beautifully drawn but painfully dull post-9/11 Captain America was.
And then Ed Brubaker reignited Cap with an updated tradional take which -- "Surprise, Surprise" -- rocked many a socks off.
Thank heavens for the devilishly bountiful work of Steven Hughes.
