Fast-forward about 50 episodes and a year later on #196 we have something much closer to what he would eventually settle on. Effects show more of a commitment to the zig-zag shape, meanwhile the timing especially on the last two cuts is very familiar.

Naruto #141 is the home of one of the very first notable scenes from now legendary animator Nozomu Abe. You can see the anticipation-heavy timing and smears he would eventually become known for start to form, though his effects drawings are still not there yet.
