Rose's Scabbard you could write a whole thesis on, but main points of weird Lion behavior: finds the scabbard immediately, interacts with Pearl more than anyone else so far, knows where to find Pearl at the end. (Pearl didn't say this location was special/Rose rel. at first!)

The next ep is Lion 3, in which Lion is suddenly eager to tell Steven more about his mom, pushing him into the mane.
Steven has a dream about Dogcopter. Dogcopter tells him "take a deep breath". When Dogcopter leaves, the dream falls apart into a void, Steven wakes in the mane.

A couple harrowing adventures later, Steven tells a story to Connie with Lion listening nearby. Steven's bummed because he doesn't have healing powers like his mom. Lion's disgruntled.
In that story, a drowning(?) Steven sees his mother reach out to him.

Lion shows off magic to Connie and brings Steven and Connie to fight a deadly robot when they need training. At this point the CGs were trying to keep him safe. Lion tried to make him a warrior.
Lion also goes to see Dogcopter with the kids.
