I'll be, along with over 40 artist more talented than me, at @ArtBreakers_Van this weekend in #Vancouver. Come to my table and talk mass extinctions with me. Fun times! #dinosaurs #paleoart
Last of the Mesozoic stickers representing the Cretaceous, the pterosaur Tupandactylus Imperator. Sporting a large crest of soft tissue the fossils for this amazing flying animal are found in the Crato Formation of Brazil. #paleoart #pterosaur #dinosaur #tupandactylus
Growing up all my hand-me-down dinosaur books depicted large lumbering reptiles living in a hot climate with their tails dragging on the ground. My 10 yr old mind would have been blown to see something like this swift Troodon living above the Arctic circle. #paleoart #dinosaurs
Verner Panton (1926-1998) was one of Denmark's most influential and creative designers. His bright, plastic interior designs make you feel like you've been transported to the future and the past at the same time.
Adolf Schaller is an American science and science fiction illustrator. I first saw his work in 1980 Carl Sagan's Cosmos with his amazing illustrations of possible Jovian life forms.
LGBTQ art heroes continues with Maurice Sendak. It would be hard pressed to find someone who's childhood wasn't touched by his charming art. Famous for "Where the Wild Things Are" he illustrated many books throughout his life. He lived with his partner Eugene Glynn for 50 years.
More LGBTQ art heroes, next up J.C. Leyendecker (1874-1951). Most famous for his Saturday Evening Post covers, he lived with long time partner and model Charles Beach for most of his adult life. After his death his sister and Beach sold his originals at a yard sale for 75$ each.
LGBTQ art hero, Jeffery Catherine Jones (her legal name). Her art is absolutely sublime and beautiful. She was a member of "The Studio" during the '70s and appeared in "Heavy Metal Magazine" regularly. She transitioned in 1998 at the age of 55. She passed away in 2011.
