I always got the impression that these parrot-lizards were goofy and braindead when I first saw reconstructions of them, but I tried to go for a more ornery look for this heavy-browed feller. They’re small, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be pushovers! #paleoart
Damn, I almost forgot my third paleoart: Sinosauropteryx! This is the first paleoart I’ve done without scanning in an ink drawing and making a digital background. The digital line work was a great deal of fun, and I kinda think that it’s better than the final colored product
Obviously I had some trouble with rendering the background, spending a total of 16.5 hours on the piece all together. The composition is still a bit off to me, and hopefully I can improve upon that in the future. HOWEVER! The piece STILL has more history to it!
I just realized that I only made 2 pieces of paleoart this year!! That’s suuuucks, dawg! To get me back in the mood to draw dinosaurs and show all my new followers what this means for the future, I’ll make a lil thread about these two pieces
I find it fascinating how my favorite compositions come from sketches that are absolutely minuscule.
