I would like to focus on the connection between Darkness and Negative Feelings, which is used a lot at the end of Digimon Adventure in the "World of Darkness" that Piemon controls. Interestingly, on Digimon Adventure Official Zukan II this place is called Dark Area (闇エリア)

Interestingly the term Dark Area wasn’t used directly in the anime. The term "World of Darkness" (暗黒の世界 or 闇の世界) was used, sometimes replaced by Hell or Underworld, or simply called "Darkness". These terms were used to refer to Dark Area in the profiles before the anime.

I would have liked of TRI had focused on giving a definitive answer to this within the series with the characters understanding this instead of what they did

Finally we have the first console game, Digital Monster Ver.S Digimon Tamers, which introduces new Digimon and focuses on Hackers who want to use Digimon to control the network. Here we have new Dark Digimon for example the Dark Digimon Evilmon.

@rai_darkness Well, I can say that in a way there is a use of the same mechanisms used in other works in the franchise. Perhaps the mechanism and being called "Light"/"Darkness" was just a coincidence, but even if it is the case, I think it is a nice to talk about it, as a curiosity at least

Kakudou wanted to explore other worlds like Witchelny and the Dark Ocean turned out to be a catalyst for these ideas to come true. But, possibly due to the cancellation of 03, these concepts were never explored and only hinted at the end of 02.

The Dark Ocean was introduced by Konaka for episode 13. A mysterious unexplained place with an atmosphere that fit with what he had written so far. The concept was approved by Kakudou, but no one really knew Konaka's ideas for the place.
