In 1814 with the restoration of The Spanish Monarchy he pleaded his non-involvement with the prior regime. He painted his disturbing The 2nd of May 1808 & The 3rd of May 1808 (1812). These are powerful & emotive images of the horrors of war.
From 1772 he created some 42 patterns for the Royal Tapestry Factory in the Rococo style. He also pursued etching at this time, a medium in which he still remains famous. These tapestry designs are relaxed & charming images.

Francis Bacon (1909-92) was a great Irish artist who captured the horror, disaster & evil of the 20th century with its catastrophic oppression & wars. He was a nihilist, an exile & a gay man in an era of destruction (self portraits, 1970 & 1973)

Picasso chose to depict Olga in a neoclassical manner (1920). She disliked his friends & avant-garde works, so the style fitted. He would bring a monumentality to the classical style as shown in his Head of a Woman (1921) as well as his Mother & Child (1922)
