He was commissioned to paint The Snake Charmer in 1907. It is a magnificent other-world, full of magic & highlighted by his technique. The Merry Jesters (1906), The Flamingoes (1907) & The Snake Charmer (1907)

The Sleeping Gypsy (1897), The Eiffel Tower (c1898) & A Corner if the Plateau of Bellevue (1901-2). The Sleeping Gypsy is particularly lyrical in its treatment & symbolism.

Klimt’s works focus on decorative effect & he exploited the style in order to create unique & memorable images that allow commissioned portraits to transcend mere likeness.

In 1894 Klimt was commissioned to create images for the Uni of Vienna. These include Philosophy, Medicine & Jurisprudence. Also depicted is the Beethoven Frieze of 1902. Such was their modernity that contemporary critics & bourgeois were horrified.
