@JoshuaGegen I’m not exactly an expert on mutant turtle anatomy but when in doubt, looking right is better than being technically correct. Although, these two drawings seem to disagree with my impulse.

Here are a few times I’ve digitally inked & colored over Kirby’s lines. It’s a fun exercise to imitate an artist with such a strong style and every once in a while I see it creep into my own work.
