The work he did for Marvel and the Tarzan series is incredible.

4 excellent images in episodes 17 and 18 of Go Nagai’s Devilman.

Though Devilman manages to rescue the Makimuras, he is too late to stop General Zannin from ambushing Miki Makimura, who falls down a cliff while trying to flee.

In Go Nagai’s series, the antagonists are brutal and cruel in how they treat innocent people. And in Devilman, the violence these villains display is a reminder that real bad guys in 📺 shows must not be presented as watered down figures; but instead as dangerous psychopaths.

Unlike the manga, where the human Akira posseses Amon to become Devilman and make war against demons, the anime version works under the opposite premise. Which is that a demon possesses a human individual to fight against humans, but then switches sides out of ❤️ for a 👩🏻.

Now this is a show I have been impatient to explore.
The 1972 anime Devilman.
The first depiction of Go Nagai’s Classic story of war between human and demons. Which would be done also in a best-seller manga series of 5 volumes; branded as one of the 10 best mangas of all time.
