Comparison of Spinosaurus(2020) and Sarcosuchus(Sereno et al. 2001), approximately at same scale.
Look at those ribs and those femora! Spinosaurus looks extremely gracile, with extremely thin ribs, almost akin to what would be expected in an Actinopterygian. It's puzzling...

En résumé : Monsieur Spinosaurus aegyptiacus avait une queue de triton et s'en servait pour nager efficacement !

So this membrane seems to protect muscles, we have data in dinos showing that there are similar muscles going here (Thx Witmerlab!). At the same time, you can infer where the membrane/mouth corner has to be by looking at where the teeth stop (somewhere under the eye or earlier).

So the norm is to have tissue at that place that protects something. Usually, the membrane represented in the mouth corner of dinos is thin and looks fragile, but in reality, if you look at animals that actually have a flesh look, it’s way more bulky (like with this tegu).
