@juliaioffe I hate the “gotcha” culture of social media when something is quoted out of context & edited for maximum outrage. As an artist, I’ve tackled the theme of war for years, including Ukraine. The assumption that you can only care about one thing at a time is so depressing.
Throwback to a project I wanted to do years ago with @UNHumanRights - the campaign never went ahead, but these are the two paintings I created for it. The child on the left is in a war zone, the one on the right is free.
#NewProfilePic “freedom” is a much-abused word these days. The flapping of the butterfly’s wings has unleashed the chaos of war. May all wars come to end, and soon.
@BrentLindeque for you - purple and gold glitter because Duke was royalty ❤️💜
@strategywoman Today on #InternationalWomensDay2022 I painted women from four war zones: Ukraine, Yemen, Afghanistan and northern Mozambique. All in lipstick and eye shadow - you don’t wear makeup (neither do I!) and I paint with it.
@monaeltahawy @oneworldnl Today, I painted a series of works featuring women, each inspired by a war zone: Yemen, Afghanistan, Ukraine and northern Mozambique (Cabo Delgado).
Painting of a protesting Yemeni woman in lipstick and eye shadow for #InternationalWomensDay2022. May there be an end to wars and bombing everywhere in the world.
