something about seeing video game areas you've become so familiar with in different times of the day hits different. the crusty DS compression actually adds a lot to it

the hills in the background are also pretty clearly photoshopped. they're a lot higher and rounder, giving a better sense of depth.
little things like that went a long way in making the game feel less like a bunch of polygons and more like a real, physical world
