I'm at that point where I can't stop fiddling with bits of my book mss that are probably fine, while I'm ignoring the bits that do actually need rewriting...

Look at this glorious dressed print that I’ve got my mitts on! The red outlines on the dress are carefully cut from the paper of the original print. I’m writing about these adorned/dressed prints for Material Lives.

Material Lives milestone! Chapter 3 on Ann Frankland Lewis’ ‘dress of the year’ watercolours is finished! 🥳 Now I’m moving on to finishing off chapter 4, which is on Sabine Winn and her adorned prints.

Writing about mourning is so emotionally draining. This was Ann Frankland Lewis' watercolour for 1797, the year her husband died. Ann had lost her elder daughter only four years previously, and would go on to lose her younger daughter (possibly depicted) in 1810.

I’m meant to be on a train to Aberystwyth and @NLWales, except it got cancelled and there’s a 2 hr wait. So instead I’m discovering @WolvArtGallery. Look at these fabulous finds!

My research assistants closely inspected my notes this morning. Their review was positive, but they found the lack of fish and mice problematic. 🐠 🐁

My other job for this evening is finishing off my paper for #smallthingsc18 @CECSYork @chloewigsmith, 'Material Nationhood: Britannia, Patriotism, and Small Things, 1707-1837'. So many diddy little Britannias!
