DJ is an unrelable narrator who holds a grudge against Seungho and Nakyum. He is blinded by his hatred for both of them. Furthermore, he is a servant with a limited access to the inner chambers so his observations are taken from afar and thus, very flawed.

They way Nakyum's gaze always wanders towards SH, he can't help himself but be pulled to him, because Seungho is what he really wants. These moments when NK genuinely misses SH, watching him from afar, longing for him show what Nakyum's been hiding in his heart: his love for SH.

Because in the servant’s POV, here is a lowborn boy who is considered by the society even more lowly than himself but is treated better than noble wives. Nakyum has been elevated to a high position but he is left kneeling by his feet, collecting trash from the floor.

If the audience read PotN superficially,they'll only see one dimension of the story and then denounce it completely,just like the servant who only sees the surface of the painting but not its beauty and feelings behind it,much less the growing love between the two men in the room

There is no ulterior sexual motive in the way SH touches NK. his one image showing them making love and their real selves completely lost in a world of their own perfectly illustrates all the dichotomy, nuance, emotions and complex issues that lie just below the surface.

My headcanon of this AU moment: Seungho is clenching his fists because he is letting Nakyum go to protect him; however, in the end, he still can't help himself but to reach out a hand to stop him from leaving 😢😭

“Despite myself” = he’s conflicted and confused by what he feels, his heart and body pull him toward Seungho but his mind is protesting.

“I think about you coming inside me” = he wants to be claimed by Seungho, he wants to feel more of his warmth.

“My heart starts racing” = I used to be surprised why Nakyum was so confused and shocked by his racing heart, until I realized it’s because he never experienced it before – INHUN HAS NEVER MADE HIS HEART RACE, ONLY SEUNGHO HAS MANAGED TO DO THAT.

BAEK NAKYUM HAS JUST CONFESSED HIS LOVE FOR YOON SEUNGHO! THIS IS A FREAKING LOVE CONFESSION, this is Nakyum being honest about his feelings
