Abbot Handerson Thayer's 'Angel' is one of my favorite works of all time. This is probably the most beautiful painted face I can think of. I've sat in front of the original work for hours and let my eyes trace every brush stroke in it and I still cannot fathom it.

I wanted a lot of textures and using only three pencils, that was hard to figure out. Cloth, wood, porcelain, leather, fungi, shrubbery. Different rendering techniques for each one and sometimes letting the paper do the work for me.
